Starting in the 1960's, the Portsmouth area had a YMCA which was home to the
Portsmouth Judo Club. Some of the founding members of the OMA are former
students of that club. "I was one of the last members of the Portsmouth
Judo Club still teaching there before the YMCA closed", said Michael
Bailey, assistant instructor. "I learned a lot in my classes and spent
every minute I could there. This is like going back home, to have a Judo school
where I can study and also pass on what I know."
